Juggernaught 2017

POSTED ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2019 JUGGERNAUGHT WINE”

Juggernaught Wine Review
Big wine, Small Price…definitly a Juggernaught.

Each year I have a song that is my anthem for the year. This year is was a song called “show me on the doll where the music touched you.” by Red City Radio. It starts mellow and by the end he is proclaiming that he is a “Juggernaught”. He might use a some words with a little more flair. His voice is haunting and painful and I just love it!

If I wanted to be deep, thought provoking, and draw parallels I could tell you that the wine starts mellow and is immaturely weak, but it stenghtens with age and the suffering of it’s tough trials. By the end is matured, full of value and confident in what it has become. That all may be true in some way, but I really just enjoy drinking Juggernaught while listening to music. Wine, whilste beautiful, is a conduit for experiances, like a smell brings back a childhood memory.

The Approachable Juggernaut Wine: 2017 Juggernaut Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon

August 2019   Tasting Notes

Some times when you drink a wine and it’s great because the moment you are is great. That is not the case with this wine. While I don’t want to start with the $$ it has to be said that this wine is one of the best inexpensive wines I’ve tasted but the quality is worth far more. Starting with the bottle itself which is taller and heavier then it’s peers you are lead to believe you are holding something greater. Right from the start you feel like your getting a quality product. This wine is definitely not pretentious though, and is actually a very approachable cabernet sauvignon, made with grapes from four California wine region hillsides which are said to be where the best vineyards are located. It is made by Bogle, a well-respected family winery headquartered outside of Sacramento.

The wine is dark, very purple in color like a dark plum, and has a great nose. It has notable red fruits in the flavor, with elements of vanilla, white pepper, chocolate and plenty of oak influence. The tannins linger a bit but not over bearing and a medium earthy finish complete the profile: Similar to other wines that spends 12-18 months in new French oak barrels. The current vintage, 2016, is great right now and the 2017 is ready to drink or to rest a few more months.

Pairs well with acidic sauces used in most pastas, sausage, and other hearty dishes like the duck burgers I paired it with the other night.
